Currently National Women's Health, Tamaki Ward are seeking midwives to join their dynamic team with an interest or background in Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol dependency competence. Tamaki Ward is a 39 bed maternity ward providing antenatal and postnatal care. 

This is a challenging and rewarding area for professional development. We have a friendly and caring multidisciplinary team. In addition to midwifery and obstetric staff we have daily input and support from physiotherapists, social workers, the pain team, maternal mental health team and dieticians.

In return you will be well supported by BettyWilkings (Charge Midwife) and the Clinical Midwife Specialists (Angela Harvey and Paula Ryan). You will have ongoing workforce development as well as access to personal education funds for conferences, journal subscriptions and professional development. Full access to study days and courses through our Learning and Development department. 

We have a flexible rostering system. Hours of work negotiable, ranging from 4, 8 or 12 hour shifts.

The midwifery team work dynamically to cover the unit on a 24/7 basis and to preceptor midwives participating in our Complex Care Course, an annual post graduate certificate.  Our team is a highly committed and professional multidisciplinary team, with skills and experience in managing women within the acute secondary and tertiary setting.

Each midwife requires excellent empathy and communication skills and a passion for teaching the next generation of midwives.

Domino Midwife, Maternity Outpatients, National Women’s Health, GreenlaneClinical Centre

Opportunity to work as an autonomous midwife, providing holistic high quality care for women and their families working across the scope of midwifery.

A Domino Midwife provides care for women choosing to birth at Auckland Hospital, providing LMC care for 52 women per year on behalf of National Women's Health. The on call roster ensures four days off in each two week period including alternate weekends.

A multidisciplinary team is available for you to utilise within ADHB including obstetricians, physiotherapists, physicians, social workers and lactation consultants. There will also be the opportunity to liaise with GPs, well child providers and other organisations within the wider community. Further support is available within the strong working relationship with your domino partner as well as your other domino and community colleagues and charge midwife.

You will need to be self motivated, flexible, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to demonstrate effective time management. The ability to assess and manage clinical situations both in the community and hospital settings is an important attribute.

As a Domino Midwife you receive an attractive salary with a mileage allowance, access to a study fund and to a wide variety of learning options within ADHB to ensure your ongoing personal and professional development.
