I was born and raised in the UK where I trained to be a nurse and a midwife. I worked full-time as a midwife in a very busy obstetric unit in the UK but had an ambition to live and work in New Zealand for a lot of years. I decided to make the move in 2004 and eventually arrived in Nelson with my husband, two children, dog and container in 2005!

Since my arrival I am delighted that I have set up my independent practice as a midwife in the Tasman District Region. I love being a midwife and feel honoured to support women and their families during such a unique life event. As a Lead Maternity Carer I offer my midwifery skills and knowledge to support women with aims to encourage well informed decisions to promote positive experiences of the childbirthing process.

I am happy to provide antenatal care either at the woman's home or at Motueka Community Hospital and support home birth or births at Motueka or Nelson Hospital. I also provide postnatal care within the womans home for up to a period of six weeks. I strongly believe in continuity of care as this has proven to have positive outcomes for women's experiences and also provides me with a great deal of job satisfaction.

I work closely with other independent midwives in the Motueka area to ensure women have a full back up support and a 24 hour midwifery service.
