Reg Midwife (1991)
My name is Meg Fegan. I have two grown up sons and two beautiful grandchildren. I have a good understanding of rural midwifery and its challenges. I also have the skills to recognize when things are not normal and refer/transfer to the appropriate secondary/tertiary level as required. My philosophy is working in partnership with women, family/whanau. My core belief is women have been created to have the ability to birth naturally. I will care for women who would like to birth at Taupo and Rotorua Maternitys and support women with water births.

“Pregnancy, birth and newborn babies” all natures special wonders in the journey of life and I am a privileged midwife to care for women during unique time. I have been an independent midwife providing care to families in the Taupo district over the last 10 years. I take a small caseload of clients which allows me to balance my time between midwifery, family and life on a dairy farm. I support women to birth at Taupo Maternity, home and Rotorua when indicated.

My name is Debbie Cullen and I have a degree in Midwifery (Massey) and a Diploma in Naturopathics. I am a mother of six and grandmother of two. My practice is primary and holistic in focus. I enjoy very much the personalized continuity of care that I am able to offer as an independent midwife. I support women from around the lake, including Turangi, to birth at Taupo Maternity, at home and transferring to Rotorua when medically indicated, and I also guide women with waterbirth.

Reg Midwife
Pregnancy and birth are a special time in a woman’s life and I absolutely love my work with women, their partners and family/whanau from around the Lake Taupo Region, guiding them during their journey. I have been a midwife here since 1994, and I have the ability and skills to offer women pregnancy and birthing information that will empower them to look at their options around birthing at home, at Taupo Birthing Unit, and in the water, and I will always use these skills to transfer women to the appropriate specialist hospital when warranted.
