Hi! I would like to introduce my midwifery service to you.

Philosophy

I believe it is important for women, and in particular pregnant women, to be able to make informed decisions regarding their health care and that of their infants, family or extended family.

I am committed to all Women's Health issues and therefore ensure women are given all necessary information to enable them to make the appropriate decision regarding their care antenatally, during labour/delivery and in the postnatal period.

I firmly believe sensitive and honest communication is the cornerstone of caring.

Area of Practice

Mostly at Pukekohe Maternity - a 10 bed cottage hospital with a lovely country setting, focussing on normal labour/delivery, with waterbirths and homebirth also as an option.

Some deliveries at Middlemore Hospital - nearest specialist hospital with full obstetrician/anaesthetic facilities.

Professional qualifications

Advanced Diploma of Nursing (ADN)

NZ Registered Midwife (RM)

NZ Registered Nurse/Obstetric Nurse (RGON)

Personal qualifications

Firstly a mother, committed to my husband and two children. Practised midwifery since 1978, 20 years have been centred mostly at Pukekohe Maternity, with over 10 years as an Independent Midwife.

What can I offer?

A free confidential service within the Section 88 Agreement, pregnancy testing, one to one care but with back up midwifery by Lyn Stark and Marion Hunter, antenatal checks at our Counties Independent Midiwves' clinic based at Pukekohe Maternity. Conventional and alternative health advice, early discharge, visits in hospital or at home postnatally up to 4 - 6 weeks, breastfeeding assistance, contraceptive advice, postnatal check at one month. I work as part of a team of Independent Midwives called 'Counties Independent Midwives'. I am regularly reviewed by the New Zealand College of Midwives.

An emphasis on holistic care appropriate to cultural, spiritual and psych-social needs.
