Reducing the effects of earthquake stress on babies
Brainwave Trust, the charitable organisation that promotes awareness of brain development, particularly in children, has compiled a package of information and advice on caring for babies and young children in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake. Brainwave says that infants and young children are vulnerable to stress from an event such as the earthquake but that parents and caregivers can greatly reduce the risk of long last affects by adopting good coping strategies. Brainwave’s advice is aimed at health professionals and parents and is available at www.brainwave.org.nz
