Continuing Education and Professional Development
This is an expectation of all midwives. Midwives who hold annual practising certificates are requried to complete a number of compulsory and elective ongoing education points over a three year period as set down by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.
Examples of optional ongoing education include:
- Refresher courses and practice workshops for midwives run by the NZCOM regions throughout New Zealand
- Workshops, conferences and other education opportunities run by a variety of providers or organisations
- Post graduate papers
