A - Z of Perineal Care: A midwifery perspective

This full day interactive workshop will provide midwives with the opportunity of exploring current evidence to support midwifery practice in relation to perineal care throughout the antenatal, labour and birthing and postnatal periods.

The workshop will also discuss and provide opportunities for midwives to refresh their skills on perineal assessment and perineal repair following birth. The workshop will also focus on the midwives role in supporting women following birth to enhance women’s experiences in the postnatal period.

This workshop has been approved by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand as elective education and has been allocated 5 points.

Safety and Sensitivity in Postnatal Care

This full day interactive workshop explores current evidence to support postnatal midwifery care for women and her baby. Midwives will be encouraged to consider how optimal care can be enhanced and provided.

A key component of the workshop will be for midwives to consider the role of new-born examination and the well-being of the baby throughout the 6 week postnatal period. This will include opportunities to refresh new-born skills examinations through hands-on active learning.

This workshop has been approved by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand as elective education and has been allocated 5 points.

This interactive workshop will provide a space for rural midwives to explore, discuss and unpick rural practice topics and enable further opportunities for developing collegial support by exploring professional support mechanisms.
