Australian trained Midwives:

If you have completed your midwifery training in Australia and wish to practice in your first year in New Zealand, you are required by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand to participate in the Midwifery First Year of Practice programme.

For New Zealand trained midwives this is a government funded programme. For Australian trained midwives, you must meet the costs of the programme yourself.

Contact the MFYP National Coordinator at mfyp@nzcom.org.nz for further information.

For advice on your registration requirements contact the Midwifery Council of New Zealand or click here

Other Internationally trained midwives:

The Midwifery Council of New Zealand does not accept applications from internationally qualified new graduate midwives. All applicants must show at least two years midwifery practice experience in the five years preceding the application.
