Midwife Educator Professional Development Unit: Portfolio Women’s Health – Maternity

Full time, permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and innovative Midwife Educator to work as part of the Clinical Education work stream of the Professional Development Unit. This designated senior midwife role focuses on equipping midwives working within Women’s Health and community services with the knowledge and skills to deliver excellence in women centred care. Women’s Health also employs registered nurses across the tertiary setting. You will be based in a team comprising of midwifery and nursing educators.

To be successful you need:


  • a current midwifery practicing certificate with a minimum of four years post registration experience
  • current clinical experience
  • record of delivering education activities and facilitation of learning in clinical practice
  • expertise in clinical practice endorsed by recognition at leadership level on the Quality Leadership Programme framework or equivalent
  • experience implementing principles of the Treaty of Waitangi into practice
  • demonstrated leadership skills
  • a postgraduate qualification and (or working towards) an adult teaching qualification (e.g. CAT, preceptorship)
  • have a flair for innovative practice and experience/interest in clinical simulation
