Cochrane Summaries for Midwifery

Cochrane Reviews are systematic reviews of primary research in human health care and health policy, and are internationally recognised as the highest standard in evidence-based health care resources.

They investigate the effects of interventions for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. They also assess the accuracy of a diagnostic test for a given condition in a specific patient group and setting. They are published online in the Cochrane Library. The midwifery related summaries are collated regularly and are provided below.

Cochrane Translations

Since 2014 Cochrane has established a translation strategy to make Cochrane Review summaries available in a number of languages other than English. These are Croatian, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish and Tamil. Cochrane anticipates increasing the number of languages that reviews are translated into. Reviews for translation are prioritised by a medical committee for each language, so reviews are not translated into all of the 13 languages currently represented. Of the four most translated reviews, 'Continuous support for women during childbirth' has been translated into 10 languages. Blogshots and podcasts are also being translated.
