Kia ora koutou members,

Budget 2021

Today’s budget announcement has confirmed that:

  • The business contribution payment for LMC midwives will be paid again this year
  • There will be a small increase in Section 88 payments from 1 July  (a total of an additional $3.056 million per annum, which equates to approximately 1.5% increase).

Section 88 revision update

We understand that the Section 88 Notice revision is nearing completion. This process will implement new and revised modules and fee structure. When the College was formally notified in July 2020 that the Section 88 Notice was being reviewed, we were informed that the Ministry of Health would work with the College and the NZMA to set fee levels. At this stage we have not received any communication from the Ministry of Health regarding proposed fees. We will keep members informed as soon as any information is provided to us.

The process for employed midwife  pay increases is via MECA negotiations which are currently underway.  The College is communicating regularly with MERAS regarding progress.

Ngā mihi
