The annual fee depends on a member’s category at the time of joining or renewing membership. All fees are GST inclusive.

Registered or student midwife

Employed under MECA * $345 (graduate/low earner $258.75) #
Non-practising/unwaged * $54
Overseas resident $65
1st year student in 3-year BM course * $54
2nd or 3rd year student in 3-year BM course * $90

Journal-only member

Post Journal within New Zealand $54

Definitions

Self-employed

A practising midwife who claims from Section 88 or is paid an untaxed fee

Employed

A practising midwife who is employed under the MECA and not claiming from Section 88 and is paid a taxed fee

Graduate

New graduate midwives in their first year of practice receive a 25% discount

Low earner rate

A 25% discount may apply to Employed, Self-employed and Associate with Indemnity members, whose gross income from all sources during the last financial year was less than $25,000. This reduced fee is not automatically renewed, you must re-apply every financial year, by supplying Proof of earnings (e.g. a tax summary or a letter from your accountant).

Non-practising/ unwaged

A midwife who is on maternity leave, is not currently employed, or has retired and is not practising midwifery

Overseas resident

An individual member who resides overseas. Professional Indemnity Insurance cover is NOT provided

Student

Currently studying towards a Bachelor of Midwifery in New Zealand

Associate

An individual who is not a registered midwife but is a member of an allied health profession (e.g. a childbirth educator or a neonatal nurse). Associate members have the option to include Professional Indemnity Insurance

Affiliate organisation

A consumer group or organisation that wishes to receive the College Journal and Midwifery News

Journal-only membership

Available to educational institutes that wish to receive a printed copy of the Journal
