By joining the College and paying a membership fee, you are helping to support the ongoing integrity, quality and success of midwifery services throughout New Zealand. This happens within three distinct levels: Individual, Regional and National.
Individual members receive:
- Free access to professional and clinical advice
- A reduced Midwifery Standards Review fee
- Free or reduced fees for continuing education workshops
- Free access to legal services
- Professional indemnity insurance cover
- A free copy of Midwife Aotearoa (four issues per year) and regular New Zealand College of Midwives Journal articles
- Discounts on resources available through the College shop
- The opportunity to contribute to submissions the College makes to Government, health organisations, consumer groups and the public. The College encourages and highly values individual member input.
Regionally, fees enable the College to:
- Actively support College regions and local midwifery communities
- Provide financial support to College regions through monthly capitations (20% of membership fees received from that region)
Nationally, fees enable the College to:
- Act as the leading voice on all midwifery matters
- Continually assess and provide strategic direction
- Be actively involved in education and research
- Promote, review and maintain quality professional standards
- Continue with extensive interaction with members, Te Whatu Ora and Government
- Provide a comprehensive, Resolutions Committee for midwives and women
- Protect the gains that New Zealand midwifery has made for midwives, women and their families/whānau, through media and public education
