About us

Hauora Hokianga is a recognised Māori Health provider offering a range of health and social services for the residents of Hokianga through our main hospital campus located in Rawene, and 10 clinics dispersed across the region.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced midwife to join our Caseloading team providing 24hour midwifery cover to support hapu mama (pregnant mother) and whanau (family) throughout their Haputanga (pregnancy). Our team is committed to innovative, high-quality care that empowers and supports all women and their families, providing sensitive, culturally safe skilled midwifery care. This is a 0.8 FTE position working 32 hours per week on a 24/7 rotating roster.

What you’ll bring

  • Recent clinical experience in midwifery practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to providing high quality whānau-centered care
  • Ability to work effectively in a team of Midwives and the extended Hauora Hokianga team
  • Commitment to ‘The Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding’ and ‘Baby Friendly’ hospital initiative
  • Commitment to providing whanau centered education e.g. Hine Kopu wananga
  • Current New Zealand Registration, Annual Midwifery Practicing Certificate, Active participation in Midwifery Council recertification programme and a Full Drivers Licence are required
  • Certificates in advanced study or adult education i.e., breastfeeding or neonatal intensive care would be an advantage
  • Applicants need to be able to pass a police background and safety check
