Tēnā koutou katoa
I am pleased to confirm an approved funding process (outlined below) is now in place for the for the midwifery Return to Practice fund.
I acknowledge the length of time this has taken to sort and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Our midwifery workforce plays a critical role in caring for the health needs of our whānau and communities. As part our commitment to delivering on the Health Workforce Plan 2024, we’re focussed on ways to grow and strengthen our midwifery workforce, over the short and long term.
The financial cost involved in returning to practice can be a barrier for many former midwives. We want to remove this barrier and show our support by helping with these costs.
We hope that by making this funding available. we can make returning to our important and rewarding profession, a reality for as many of those as possible.
We are especially keen to see more rural, Māori and Pacific non-practising midwives return to the workforce, as these are areas where we have particular need.
The level of funding and recertification requirements vary depending on the length of time a midwife has been away from practice. Visit our website for more information about the funding and how to apply.
Please share this information with any non-practising midwife friends and whānau who could be interested in returning.
Ngā mihi
