The NZCOM employs a Chief Executive who is accountable to the National Committee, professional advisors and administrative personnel, as well a number of contracted personnel.

Karen Guilliland - Chief Executive

RGON, RM, MA (Midwifery), MNZM

Karen leads the strategic development and policy management on behalf of National Committee. Karen provides leadership and direction for the New Zealand College of Midwives team and its contracted workforce and is the College's International liaison person.

Norma Campbell: Midwifery Advisor – Quality & Sector Liaison

RGON, RM, MA (Midwifery), MNZM

Norma is a practicing midwife, with extensive clinical midwifery experience and has been the national midwifery advisor for 13 years. She has been involved in multidisciplinary work across the health sector, is the NZCOM DHB liaison and interface person and manages the Midwifery Standards Review (quality assurance process for midwives) and Resolutions Committee (complaints process for women).

Elaine Gray: Midwifery Advisor - Continuing Education

RM, RN, PG in Adult Teaching, M.Mid

Elaine is a practicing midwife and has a wealth of experience as an educator within the maternity services. From her extensive clinical experience she has been able to develop post registration midwifery education in a range of settings and currently delivers education programmes nationally. Lesley Dixon: Midwifery Advisor - Practice Advice and Research

PhD, RM, RN, MA (Midwifery)

Lesley is a practicing midwife and has over 26 years experience as a practicing midwife in the UK, Germany and New Zealand. Having worked both as self employed LMC and in employed positions, Lesley has a good understanding of clinical practice issues. Lesley leads the College's research programme.

Alison Eddy: Midwifery Advisor Professional Projects and Contracts

RM, RCPN, PG Diploma of Public Health

Alison is a practicing midwife and her previous role as Project and Contract Management for the Ministry of Health, along with her experiences as a self employed and employed midwife, enables her to manage a variety of contracts and projects that reflect the professionalism of midwifery in New Zealand.

Hayley McMurtrie - Website Content Manager and Publications Advisor

Hayley has over 16 years marketing experience in the UK and New Zealand with many years within the health sector. Hayley manages the NZCOM website, edits the Midwifery News and is responsible for a range of other College publications.

Lynda Overton - National Office Manager & Personal Assistant to the CEO

Lynda manages and provides leadership to all the NZCOM office staff. Lynda's administration experience is extensive and includes the Ministry of Health, School of Medicine, Canterbury District Health Board and a private education provider. Lynda has been with the College for 6 years.

Penny Singlehurst - Receptionist

Penny joins us from the UK where she worked in the NHS Obstetric department. Penny provides front of house reception and telephone services and coordinates consumer feedback for the Midwifery Standards Review where some 22-25,000 women provide this feedback every year. Penny also processes all the College's book and resource orders.

Lisa Donkin - Membership Administrator

Lisa is responsible for the day to day administration of the membership database and has wide background in national administration.

Saili has returned to her position as MSR National Administrator following the birth of her beautiful daughter, Kataleiya.

Wayne Robertson - Accountant

Wayne is an experienced chartered accountant, a company director nationally and internationally, and provides accountancy oversight of the College's finances on a part-time basis.

Carla Martin - Finance Administration Assistant

Carla holds a Masters of Commerce and has experience in the banking sector. Carla supports the College accountant in managing the accounts and book-keeping of NZCOM. Carla was a consumer Midwifery Standards Reviewer for 6 years prior to joining the administration team.

Kerry Blackwood - General Administration Assistant

Kerry provides administration support across a number of programmes and provides back-up for the Membership Administrator. Kerry's experience in administration gives her real flexibility to assist all midwifery advisors with workshop preparation.

Kate Clark - Midwifery First Year of Practice (MFYP) National Coordinator

Kate has a background in project management and brings these skills to the coordination the MFYP programme.

Carla Humphrey, Legal Advisor

Carla is a barrister with over 30 years experience. Carla manages the indemnity policy providing individual midwives with a legal service under the terms of the policy.
